Mystic Powerboats: Building a Measurable Paid Media Growth Engine
How rebuilding Google Ads, Meta Ads and lead attribution took a high performance boat builder from 26 Google lead actions to 216 over the same June to October window, at a blended $51.91 per paid media lead action.
Study period: June 1 through October 8, 2026 · Google Ads, Meta Ads, website and CRM attribution
The Client
Mystic Powerboats builds high performance powerboats. Like most boat builders, it sells into a long, considered buying journey: prospective owners study models and specifications for weeks or months before they ask about a boat, and every one of those inquiries is valuable to the sales team.
Mystic entered June 2026 with paid media activity, but the measurement behind it was not built around reliable lead outcomes. HCM took over the Google Ads and Meta programs, and the website measurement that connects them to the sales team, with one goal: know which ads produce real inquiries, and spend accordingly.
The Challenge
The original media and measurement setup created activity, but it did not create a dependable view of paid media lead performance.
- Google Ads was optimizing against a mixed conversion set that included page views and other non lead events, so historical reports counted large volumes of page views as conversions.
- Meta activity did not provide a comparable website lead baseline in the matching 2024 and 2025 periods.
- Website forms did not consistently expose campaign, ad group, creative, keyword and click identifier details as usable lead level fields.
- Attribution could be lost when a visitor landed on one page and later navigated to a contact form.
- Campaign reporting and CRM records were not connected tightly enough to evaluate lead source and lead quality together.
The HCM Solution
HCM rebuilt the advertising program around high intent lead actions, then connected ad clicks, website forms, phone actions and CRM fields into one attribution path.
Google Ads Rebuilt Around Lead Actions
HCM separated high intent actions from page view noise. The lead reporting set now focuses on three actions only: form submissions, onsite phone calls and calls from ads. Bidding and reporting both work from that set, so the account is optimized toward inquiries rather than browsing.
Meta Rebuilt for Website Lead Generation
HCM launched a structured Meta program with prospecting, retargeting, website conversion optimization, placement controls, and dedicated website Lead and phone Contact events. Delivery then shifted from traffic optimization toward verified website Lead optimization, so Meta was paid to find people likely to inquire rather than people likely to click.
Meta produced 78 website Pixel Leads from June 1 through October 8, 2026. The matching 2024 and 2025 periods had no Meta spend and no website leads to compare against, so every one of them is new, measurable demand.
Lead Level Attribution, Website to CRM
HCM improved the website to CRM handoff so paid media details follow each visitor into the form record. The model inquiry form and the contact form now capture these values whenever they are available:
| Attribution group | Lead level values captured |
|---|---|
| Campaign source | UTM source, medium, campaign, content and term |
| Click identifiers | Google Click ID, Meta Click ID and Microsoft Click ID |
| Journey context | Original landing page URL |
HCM also validated that these values persist when a visitor lands on a model page or the home page and only later navigates to the contact page. That closes one of the most common attribution gaps in a long consideration purchase like a boat.
Platform Tagging Standardized
- Google Ads passes campaign, ad group, creative, keyword, network, device and match type, while preserving Google auto tagging.
- All 16 active HCM website ads on Meta received source, campaign, ad set, ad and platform tags.
- Meta Lead and phone Contact events were deployed and verified.
- Meta delivery was shifted from traffic optimization toward confirmed website Lead optimization.
CRM outcome: paid media leads that reach Mystic's website forms now carry source and campaign details into the lead record. The sales team can review individual leads by platform, campaign, ad group or ad set, creative, keyword, click identifier and landing page, instead of relying only on aggregate platform totals.

Lead Volume Versus Previous Years
| June 1 to October 8 | Google spend | Google lead actions | Google cost per lead action | Meta website leads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $8,157.20 | 8 | $1,019.65 | 0 |

| 2026 (HCM) | $9,203.84 | 216 | $42.61 | 78 |
- Versus 2025, Google lead actions grew 731 percent while spend increased 18.5 percent, and cost per lead improved 85.7 percent.
- Versus 2024, Google lead actions grew 2,600 percent while spend increased 12.8 percent, and cost per lead improved 95.8 percent.
- Meta added 78 measurable website leads in 2026. The matching 2024 and 2025 periods showed no Meta spend and no website Pixel Leads.
Key Strategic Insights
Count Leads, Not Page Views
When an ad account counts page views as conversions, automated bidding learns to buy page views. Narrowing the conversion set to form submissions and phone calls changed what Google was optimizing toward, and it is central to how lead volume rose while cost per lead fell on only modestly higher spend.
Attribution Has to Survive the Whole Journey
Boat buyers rarely inquire on the first page they see. Carrying UTM values, click identifiers and the original landing page from the first visit through to the contact form is what lets a lead record say which campaign actually started the conversation.
Meta Has to Be Paid for the Outcome You Want
Traffic optimization buys clicks. Moving Meta delivery to verified website Lead events, and routing ads to the website rather than to boosted posts and Marketplace, turned Meta from an unmeasured channel into one that adds trackable inquiries every month.
The Bottom Line
From June 1 through October 8, 2026, the rebuilt program generated 294 platform reported paid media lead actions across Google and Meta on $15,262.19 of spend, a blended cost of $51.91 per lead action.
Google lead actions reached 216, against 26 over the same dates in 2025 and 8 in 2024, and Google cost per lead action fell to $42.61. Meta, which had no website lead program in either prior year, added 78 website leads.
More important than any single number, Mystic now has a repeatable system that connects media delivery to individual inquiry records. That supports stronger budget allocation, lead quality review, creative testing and, as sales outcomes are fed back, decisions made on boats sold rather than clicks.
Measurement Notes
- Google lead actions include Form Submit, Onsite Phone Calls and Calls from ads. Historical page view conversions were excluded from the lead comparison.
- Meta website Pixel Leads are platform attributed events. They are not the same as CRM qualified leads or closed sales.
- The 294 combined total is the sum of Google lead actions and Meta website Pixel Leads. It is a platform total, not a deduplicated count of unique people.
- October data covers October 1 through October 8 only and is not a full month.
- Thirty six legacy boosted Page or Marketplace Meta ads did not send visitors to the Mystic website and therefore could not pass website attribution into Mystic forms. The HCM website destination ads were tagged and verified.
- Downstream qualification, opportunity and sales outcomes require a CRM pipeline export and are outside the platform data used in this case study.

Questions About This Case Study
How did Google lead actions grow 731 percent on 18.5 percent more spend?
HCM removed page views and other non lead events from the conversion set, so Google's bidding optimized toward form submissions and phone calls only. Combined with campaign level tagging and ongoing management, lead actions rose from 26 to 216 for the same June 1 to October 8 window while cost per lead action fell from $298.75 to $42.61.
What attribution data do Mystic's website forms capture?
When available, each model inquiry and contact form lead carries UTM source, medium, campaign, content and term, the Google, Meta and Microsoft click identifiers, and the original landing page URL. The values persist when a visitor lands on one page and submits a form on another.
Are the 294 lead actions 294 unique people?
No. The 294 total is the sum of platform reported Google lead actions and Meta website Pixel Leads, not a deduplicated count of people, and it does not measure qualified leads or sales. Those outcomes are evaluated with a CRM pipeline export.
